Oo that's quite exciting, it should really be good for the park, do we know when it is due to open? Is it still summer 2010? That sounds like quite a tight deadline if that's the case, but probably feasible.

Theres 3 rumours going around abt this hotel:
1) It be a themed hotel to the rides/areas in the park. like a thomas and friends room etc
2) Just a normal hotel modern hotel affordable for families with children. Big Groups teens/same sex etc maybe not let in unless permission is given before travel.
3) a branded chain like travelodge etc may run the hotel.

Hmm I hope it's not the third one! A themed hotel would be good but I would prefer Drayton Manor to branch away from what Alton Towers do as much as possible, otherwise it will be perceived as a 'smaller and not as good version' of Alton Towers resort.

I like the second one, affordable to families :D surely it wouldn't be a branded name not when the parks family run.(but who knows?)

They hope to have started work on the hotel at the beginning of 2010 and hope to have it open ready for the summer season 2011. They first wanted the hotel open in 2003 so if it opens in 2011 it be 8 years later when first planned.

Do you know if they are waiting for something? I'm just wondering why they don't start sooner, if the plans have already been approved??

Maybe there got 2 get the season over with and then start. I doubt there be many tents and caravans staying next year with the noise that be coming from the building site behind them.

When I go the park I have a look behind the caravan park to see if there has been any work done.

Well with Drayton Manor good priced tickets and family tickets im hopeing that they charge no more than £30 pnpp or families wont be staying in there. £60 deals would be good where you get 1 nights stay,1 day in the park and breakfast&maybe a snack during the day.
